“Despite the difficult beginnings, I gradually felt that the direction of the company was so clear that we could achieve significant successes in the treatment of viral diseases,” says Czech-born virologist Tomáš Cihlář, who next year will celebrate his 30th anniversary at Gilead Sciences, where he develops drugs for HIV, Ebola, covid-19 and other viral infections.
