
Ruth Tachezy

Ruth Tachezy holds an MA in Molecular Biology and Genetics (1987) and Ph.D. in Molecular Virology (1996) from Charles University (CU). She is the founding director of the National Reference Laboratory for Papillomaviruses (since 1998) and the Head of the Department of Genetics and Microbiology (Faculty of Science, CU) where she also leads her own research group. She has held various visiting researcher positions, including at the University of Kuopio in Finland, Yeshiva University in New York, University of Leuven in Belgium. In 2022, she received the CELSA Service to Society Award, along with an Honorable Mention of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic for health research and development. She has supervised many bachelor, master and doctoral students of biomedical programmes and teaches courses at Medical Faculties and at the Faculty of Science at CU. She has held many research grants and since 2023 she has been a principal investigator for CU on the project EU4H, EU4H-2021-PJ4, Delivering a Unified Research Alliance of Biomedical and Public Health Laboratories against Epidemics.
