Carmen Buchrieser

Carmen Buchrieser is a professor at the Pasteur Institute in France. She received her PhD from the University of Salzburg, Austria, continued as a postdoctoral fellow in the USA and at the Pasteur Institute. In 2008 she was appointed Director of the Department of Intracellular Bacterial Biology at the Pasteur Institute. She received the APART Award of the Austrian Academy of Sciences for the outstanding postdoctoral project (1997), the Charles-Louise de Saulses de Freycinet Award of the French Academy of Sciences (2005), the René Descartes Award for Joint Research of the European Commission (2008), the Pasteur Vallery-Radot Award of the French Academy of Sciences and the National Library (2009), and the HUMBOLDT Research Award of the Humboldt Foundation in Germany (2012). Her main research interest is bacterial pathogenesis.
