The first annual NIVB meeting took place from 30 November to 2 December 2022 in Kutná Hora, where participating teams met to discuss matters of scientific excellence, establish collaborations, and introduce the project to members of the newly established International Science Advisory Board.

The event is a pioneering endeavour in that it represents the first meeting to bridge the virology and bacteriology communities in the Czech Republic. While the research interests of all the participating groups focus on virology and bacteriology, their respective laboratories employ a range of diverse research methodologies. As such, the meeting offered teams an opportunity to form new scientific partnerships that draw on multidisciplinary approaches, which is a key objective of the NIVB.

This is the first in a planned series of annual meetings aimed at informing the wider scientific community about new developments, trends, and issues in virology and bacteriology.
